“Development work, innovation, creativity, efficient technology and competent personnel are the foundation of a modern company that successfully competes on the global market.” – WIC
Within the framework of the European project FLIER (2023–2025), which is aimed at developing a new curriculum for circular furniture designers, WIC has played an important role in shaping the future of the wood industry. The project addresses the need for a transition to a circular economy and strengthens competencies in the furniture sector by developing an innovative educational program.
Among the key achievements of our organization in the FLIER project, we highlight:
• cooperation in the development of the professional profile of a “circular furniture designer”,
• contribution to the design and validation of an online curriculum,
• dissemination of project results at the national level,
• connecting Slovenian companies with European partners for the exchange of knowledge and good practices.
This directly supported the main objectives of the project – promoting sustainable design, strengthening knowledge for the circular economy and responsiveness to changing labour market needs. Our role was operational and strategic: we connected stakeholders, disseminated knowledge and ensured that the project results were relevant to the Slovenian wood sector.
We are aware that the transition to a circular economy is challenging, but with innovative approaches and international cooperation we are building the foundations for a sustainable future.
